We are committed to addressing climate change through green infrastructure, waste reduction, and workforce development.
Key Projects:
- EPA Community Change Grant Project (application in review):
- Objective: Transform inactive citrus groves into biochar, sequester carbon, rejuvenate soils, and create economic opportunities.
- Strategies: Implement Green Infrastructure and Nature-Based Solutions, enhance Waste Reduction and Management to support a Circular Economy, and develop Workforce Programs for Green Jobs.
- Impact: Reducing open-air burning of citrus groves, developing over 50 green jobs, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in disadvantaged communities in Highlands County, Florida.
- Biochar Production with Disadvantaged County in Central Florida:
- Objective: Convert wood waste into biochar for soil amendment and water filtration.
- Partnership: Working with County to acquire and operate pyrolysis units, ensuring eco-friendly operations away from residential areas.
- Florida Waterway Projects:
- Objective: Improve water quality in Florida using sustainable biocarbon filtration technology.
- Method: Deploy biocarbon filtration sleeves to target impurities
- Goals: Demonstrate the effectiveness of biocarbon in water treatment and provide scalable solutions for broader implementation.
- Hurricane Debris Biomass Conversion:
- Objective: Convert 100,000 tons of hurricane debris biomass into biochar or activated carbon.
- Process: Utilize advanced biochar units to convert biomass, creating eco-friendly products while managing waste effectively.
- Economic Impact: Support local economies by creating jobs and generating revenue through the sale of biochar products.
