Riding on the backs of pollinators. McGill 081022

Biochar is becoming known to most conservation professionals.  Still, there is limited understanding of the benefits it may bring to small-scale gardeners, agriculturists, and woodland owners.  Using plants that attract pollinators, we have reached out to various groups to set up a number of "pollinator" demonstration plots that incorporate biochar as a soil amendment. The idea has been to use the natural human attraction to "pollinators" to simultaneously draw attention, discussion, and promotion of--the not-as-popular--biochar.  This presentation will cover some of the contacts, successes, and lessons learned from this recent effort.
