RFF selling biochar at Willits Soil Co

The Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. (RFFI) in northern California has begun to deliver wood-derived “North Coast Biochar” after a successful start-up of their semi-mobile pyrolysis unit.

NORTH COAST BIOCHAR: Consider the source!

The Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. (RFFI), a non-profit organization, purchased 50,000 acres of severely depleted forestland in Mendocino County with the goal of creating a working community forest that provides both critical habitat for increased biodiversity and improved regional economic vitality. As part of this extensive forest restoration, RFFI produces North Coast Biochar from the tanoak and brush that are choking out competing conifers. RFFI aims to generate sufficient revenue from the sale of this biochar to pay for the cost of ecologically removing the excess woody biomass. By purchasing North Coast Biochar you support our restoration projects, improve forest health, and reduce the danger of forest fires. Please visit www.rffi.org for more information on our activities.
