Aggregating and Marketing Biochar from a Network of Distributed Producers

Improved forest management relies on diverse markets for the wide variety of materials from management activities, especially low value woody biomass.  We’ll discuss how three collaborating hubs of biochar production are working to build an even larger network of producers which all target appropriately scaled production pyrolysis technologies in support of forest restoration and improvement. The USDA Forest Service, Wood Education and Resource Center (WERC) awarded funds which support this effort and to specifically deploy the business and technology details for a value-added woody biomass-based product suite.
